Certified Sworn Police Officers

MCC Department of Public Safety employs certified sworn police officers with full arrest powers under the authority of the as amended and are licensed through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards.

Our Public Safety Advisory Committee is comprised of two members of the faculty and two members of the staff of the College. The Public Safety Advisory Committee shall receive and address grievances by persons against the Public Safety Department. The committee encourages the complainant to first attempt resolution of any dissatisfaction you may have by working with the MCC Department of Public Safety. If you are unable to satisfactorily resolve the matter, or if you do not wish to do so, you may submit your formal grievance by completing the grievance form using the submission link.

MCC Police Officers are also sworn Deputy Sheriffs for Genesee County with full law enforcement authority on non-college property. In addition, the Department of Public Safety also employs non-certified and student Public Safety Officers. These Officers have many of the same responsibilities and duties as the Police Officers, except they have no arrest powers.

Requests for Assistance

  • Students, Faculty, Staff and visitors are encouraged to call Public Safety for Requests for Assistance even in non-emergency situations. Public Safety provides escort to vehicles, car problem assistance, and help for lost and found situations.
