1. Call (810) 762-5173 to schedule an appointment with a Resource Specialist regarding the program so that you can visit the Gateway Office and complete the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Community College application. In addition you will be asked to in full. Make sure you print it, and sign it. If you need help or don't have access to a printer, please call (810) 762-5173 for assistance.
2. To assist in completing the application, some resources you may want to bring with you:
   • Photo ID (with home address)
   • Birth Certificate
   • Social Security Card
   • State Test Scores
   • High School Transcripts

   If you do not have access to all these documents, please call or email the Gateway to College Office for further instructions. If you are missing any documents at the Information Session we will review what you have and provide feedback/next steps and a deadline for turning in the remaining materials.

3. Complete your answer to the written essay question and return it with your application at the Information Session.

   • Learn more about the Gateway to College program to help you decide whether or not it is a good fit for you
   • Have a chance to ask questions
   • Have a chance to meet us and tell us why you are interested in the program
   • Schedule your evaluations and interview

Parents, guardians and supporters are welcome to attend the information session with their student!

Fall Semester 2026 — August 31, 2026 - December 18, 2026
Scheduled dates are posted prior to the beginning of the Fall Semester.

1. Schedule a test appointment with the Lead Resource Specialist

1. At the Information Session, you will be scheduled for an individual interview sometime during the same week as your information session. The interviews generally take 20-30 minutes.
2. Your interview will be one-on-one with the Gateway to College Staff Member. The interview gives us an opportunity to get to know you better and learn more about your strengths and about what motivates you. You will be able to ask specific questions about the program during your interview.

Once you have completed Steps 1-4 and turned in all required paperwork (Official High School Transcript(s), Written Essay, Take Home Essay, Photo ID, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, SAT/ACT/MME Scores (if applicable), Application) the Gateway staff will review your file and determine if you will be accepted into the program. Space is limited, and acceptance is not guaranteed; it is important that you turn in all of your paperwork by the deadline to ensure that your application will be considered.
2. You will be notified by letter of the decision made by the selection committee. If you are accepted, you will receive a letter of acceptance and contact information for your Resource Specialist. If you are not accepted, you will receive a letter explaining why and suggesting program alternatives. If you are put on a waiting list, you may be offered a spot at the beginning of the next term.
3. If you are accepted, you will be required to attend Gateway Orientation.
4. If you are accepted while currently enrolled in high school or an alternative education program, you will need to withdraw from that school or program. You cannot be dual-enrolled i! n the Gateway to College program and a high school or alternative program. You must provide Gateway with proof of checkout.

1. Gateway Prep/Orientation is a required three day orientation during the month of August that introduces students to 911±¬ÁÏÍø Community College and Gateway to College policies and procedures, student expectations.
2. Gateway Prep/Orientation runs from 9am-12pm daily and includes the following sessions: Basic Skill Building preparation, Personal and Academic Enrichment, GtC Student Experience from current Gateway students, Workshops with college administrators, faculty, staff, and community leaders.
3. You will have an opportunity to meet and work with potential college faculty, staff, college campus tour, and learn about student support services on campus.

All students applying for the Gateway to College program must fully complete the intake process.
